Topic: Will there be PCIe 2.0/3.0 soundcards soon?

So I ordered AIO to replace my HDSP 9632 because PCI is being "phased out" by Intel.

Just got me wondering: is the PCIe 1.1 specification "fast enough" for audio or will there be cards utilizing the higher bandwidth of PCIe 2.0/3.0 in the near future?

My point is, how soon will my AIO become "obsolete"? I'm asking because I've only had the PCI version for two years, and had I known better, I naturally would have gone straight for PCIe. Sadly I know next to nothing about the technical side of these things. ed:

PCIe (and PCI) provide plenty of bandwidth (not "speed") even for the 64 channels of a MADI card. As long as coming PCIe slots will be compatible with current cards, the AIO will not become obsolete or "too slow".
