Topic: Babyface disconnects after waking on Mac 10.6.8

Hi all,

I've got a 2011 Macbook Pro running 10.6.8 which I put to sleep a few times a day. Lately I've been regularly having Babyface problems after waking from sleep: about half the times there will be no sound.

Prior to today I was unplugging and replugging the Babyface, which I don't like to do but it did solve the problem. Just now I had the same problem and I clicked on a different mixer snapshot in TotalMix and that fixed it.

It seems to happen more when I have an application playing music open, such as Soundcloud or iTunes, or a YouTube movie open in Firefox. I can't seem to spot a direct cause, though.

Is this a known bug or perhaps something to do with my settings?

My TotalMix is .942, firmware is v184 and driver is v1.59.

Thanks for any light you can shed on this,
Matthew

This is not a known bug and most probably hard to reproduce, but we will check.

Excellent - much appreciated.

Something makes me think "Flash" because it seems to have happened a lot when I've had either a soundcloud or Youtube page open while putting it to sleep. That might just be coincidence of course.

Just wanted to say that since updating to the latest drivers about a week ago I haven't had any disconnection problems, making me think that the two are related.

Thumbs-up, guys!

I should add that it has happened once in the month since my last post. It's a minor problem, and it happening once per month or two is not a dealbreaker by any means, but I figured I should let you know.

I am, however, getting a regular problem with DigiCheck where it needs to be closed and reopened after waking. That is happening more frequently now than before. I'll post about that separately in the Digicheck sub-forum.

Also, when I updated my RME drivers a month ago I also updated Flash. I have this notion that they might be linked, so ChordSolo - perhaps you want to give that a try, if you have Flash enabled on your system.

Re: Babyface disconnects after waking on Mac 10.6.8

With the update following my previous post, the problem seemed to go away.

Unfortunately I've had a return of this problem since the last update (to 0.983, firmware 185, driver 1.73), except that after waking from sleep it's consistently showing "disconnected" in Totalmix instead of the usual "44.1k". I can still adjust volumes without any problems from the knob but if I hit the recall button, which I use constantly, it does nothing. If I just close and reopen Totalmix everything is back to normal - no need to unplug anything - but still it's a little inconvenient.

This might be caused by insufficient USB power. Can you use the second connector, or an external power supply to see if it helps?

Re: Babyface disconnects after waking on Mac 10.6.8

I'm unfortunately maxed out for USB slots.

Has there been a change in power consumption since the last update?

We were able to reproduce this behaviour (TM FX Disconnect after sleep) under 10.6.8. Fix upcoming!
