Topic: No LTC Out from Fireface 800 Time Code Option (TCO-FF)

On the RME website under Features for the Fireface 800 Time Code Option (TCO-FF), it states that, "The TCO also features an additional LTC output (BNC) with two level settings (configurable via jumper)."  I connected the TCO LTC out to the LTC input (75 ohm) of my Tascam HD-P2 audio recorder.  The HD-P2 is not receiving and displaying the LTC from the TCO-FF.  (Under identical settings, the HD-P2 receives and displays LTC correctly from the video camera TC out, given below, so the HD-P2 is setup correctly to receive and display external LTC.)

The TCO-FF is as received from the distributor.  I have not modified any jumper settings.  What can I do to correct this problem?  What are the two level settings for the LTC out?  Where is the jumper?

The set-up is:

Panasonic HPX-300 video camera
1080-59.94i
AVC—I100/30p
Drop frame
TC Out: TCG/TCR (outputs TC during video recording and playback)
TC Video Synchro: Video Out
GL Phase: Composite

Re: No LTC Out from Fireface 800 Time Code Option (TCO-FF)

The TCO does not pass the input signal through to the output. It can only supply LTC to the outside world if used with software that actually supports such a feature. Currently, only Sequoia/Samplitude (not entirely sure about the latter) and possibly Nuendo support this.

Re: No LTC Out from Fireface 800 Time Code Option (TCO-FF)

It appears that the TCO and my internal audio recording application Cubase 6 can only function in slave mode receiving LTC and Video sample rate from an external device and not in the reverse.  Is this correct?  What then is the purpose of the Clock Mode option Master?  Master of what?

Is master the correct setting if you are not syncing to external video and TC signals and using the internal clock and TC of, in my case, Cubase?

The TCO does not generate LTC itself, does it?

With Sequoia, can LTC internally generated by Sequoia and the Sequoia video sample rate be output via TCO-FF to a video camera or other device setup in slave mode?  What output connectors from the TCO or Fireface 800 would one use in this case. as there is no video out?

Re: No LTC Out from Fireface 800 Time Code Option (TCO-FF)

The TCO does not generate LTC. Sequoia will, using the BNC outputs.
The Master option only makes sense in such a context....

Thank you!  I understand now.

Re: No LTC Out from Fireface 800 Time Code Option (TCO-FF)

Hi Daniel,

I'm hoping you can guide me in the right direction. I am running Sequoia 12, with HDSP driver v. 3.29.

I have enabled APP output in Sequoia, but I'm only ever getting 00;00;00;01 TC out of the LTC out BNC connecter on the TCO card, even when Sequoia is not running. Is there another setting I should be checking out?

Thanks!

Ryan
