Topic: UFX Compressor Noise
This this the second time for me to post about this issue. i asked about it once and never got an answer.
I use the UFX totalmix fx compressors for tracking vocals. I hear audible noise related to the gain reduction happening. its like the clicking sound of turning a stepped rotary encoder, and that sound gets printed ti the recorded file (because i'm recording with EQ+D). To clarify this more, the noise is like tightening a zip-tie kind of sound , but of course a lot quieter than an actual zip-tie. It happens everytime the gain is being changed by the compressor. The test i did to confirm that is, i played an endless software test tone and i set a compressor to the hardware output thats playing the test tone. then i used the volume control on the tone generator software to increase/decrease the volume of the test tone to trigger the totalmix fx compressor threshold. now every time the gain reduction meter moves, i hear artifact zip-like noise proportional to the gain reduction meter. it's hard to explain it but if you did the test you can clearly hear it. Now the question is: is that a normal behaviour of the internal DSP? or is my unit defective? also i like to mention that moving the actual channel fader up/down or moving the gain knob in mic channels results in this kind of non-smooth gain change clicks. Please look into this because its annoying me so much.
Thanks.
