Topic: Dead FF800

My FF800 died after 3  years of service.

Couldn't wait for a repair so I've bought an identical new one from Digital Village in the UK.

Now the dust has settled I need to get the original unit working again.

The symptoms?  Well, it won't power on and I can hear a very low level high pitched whine from the chassis of the unit itself.

Synthax have mentioned that power supply issues are the most common cause of FF800 failures, and they have power supplies in stock at about £35 if I recall correctly.

So the question to RME is; does this sound like a power supply issue?  Is it a worthwhile risk to order a p/s from Synthax and have my techie fit it?

Many thanks.

Re: Dead FF800

Anyone from RME?  Please...

Humbly bumping...

Re: Dead FF800

Bumping it again... ding dong ..... RME?  Anyone there?

Re: Dead FF800

Sounds like a PSU problem to me. It's not too complicated to exchange this, a tech should have it back up and running in ten minutes.

Re: Dead FF800

I have the same problem with same symptoms. Just wanted to ask you where can I order a new PSU for FF800? Can I order it directly from RME? (not to wait my distributor).

Thanks for your reply in advance!
