Topic: Sync questions of fireface800

Hi I'm using my fireface800 and everything is alright.

The fireface 800 is slaved to Avid HD IO. So the fireface 800 is the slave. However I have another device to sync. So when fireface 800 is in slave mode, does it world clock out or spdif/adat out world clock signal ?

Thanks!

Re: Sync questions of fireface800

I think (not absolutely sure) that word clock out from FF to the other device makes sense. The manual is pretty clear about clocking.

Don't mess up word clock and world clock http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ cool

Hahaa?
Right, so FF is slave and it's still outputing clock signal thru word clock output?

Re: Sync questions of fireface800

From the manual, chapter 30. Word Clock:

The word clock output of the FF is constantly active, providing the current sample frequency as word clock signal. As a result, in Master mode the provided frequency is identical to the one present at the currently chosen clock input....

Seems so, yes!

Got it ! thanks! How about SPDIF? That's output word clock signal as well? If not, How can we choose to let ff output word clock via spdif while in slave mode?

Thanks!

Re: Sync questions of fireface800

If the following device is able to slave-sync via SPDIF it should work. I'm just guessing here...

Re: Sync questions of fireface800

All digital outs on the FF will output clock data whether audio is present or not.
