Topic: Protools, totalmix and software monitoring...
Hi All;
For those of us who are RME interface and long suffering pro tools users I would like to throw something out there;
I've been enjoying the relative luxury in Protools version 10 (insert yawn and sigh- it took Avid sooo long to introduce this feature!) of using 'low latency monitoring' mode while recording.
For those who don't know this function in the options menu of PT is pretty much equivalent to 'switch software monitoring off' in Logic or Cubase.
that is, in engaging low latency monitoring Protools will mute through-put to the track's output bus when it is record armed (also disables any insert plug-ins). To monitor your recording signal you must do so through RME totalmix. Easy enough and straight forward.
Here's my request:
I would like to be able to 'gang' the totalmix input fader with its corresponding protools record channel fader through midi or some such. This would effectively remove the need to constantly switch between TM and the PT mix window to change my monitoring level. In practice, raising/lowering pro tools fader would make the same move on the TM fader. I believe focusrite have a way to do this by use of a plug-in?
Matthias; is this a relatively simple feature to implement? or decades of code writing? ;-)
Anyone else interested in this feature or happened upon the focusrite implementation...?
