Topic: UFX playback channel order

Hello,
my newly-bought UFX has playback channels mixed up. Channels 9-12 should be headphones out but in reality headphones are the last 4 channels, 27-30. If I route some signal in DAW to Phones 9/10, they are going to AES in TotalMix software playback and if I route to ADAT 13/14, they are going to Phones 9/10. So all channels from 9 onwards are mixed up.
Interestingly enough I read from driver version history that in 1.72 there was a fix for channel order. But I got my UFX just some days ago and cannot comment on previous driver versions.
I'm on OSX 10.7.4, installed latest drivers (first USB then Firewire) and upgraded firmware before any usage (DSP-SW 1.51, TotalMix FX 0.983, firmware 352, driver 1.73).
EDIT2: Problem persist only with USB connection and only on OSX Lion, with Firewire in Lion or USB in 10.6.8 and Win7 everything is fine.
Is that something obvious I'm missing or is it a software bug?

Other than that I like my new interface very much and Im really impressed with the attention to detail RME has. Even the manual was a great read :-)

Thank you.

Please reset TotalMix FX while connected via USB and check again. Options > Reset Mix > Total Reset.

Re: UFX playback channel order

Thank you for your suggestion but sadly that did not work. Just to visualize the problem I made a screenshot of Reaper and TotalMix FX side by side where you can see that output 9-10 (Phones) from Reaper goes to AES Software Playback channel (13-14) in TotalMix but not to PH 9/10.
The problem is the same in other DAWs as well.

Re: UFX playback channel order

The latest FFUFX driver fixes this problem. The first time I saw this problem, it was introduced in an auto-update of OSX Lion. It had to do with something in the way Mac Core Audio deals with audio I/O via the driver. I do remember seeing a post from Matthias and it was fixed pronto.
Connect the unit via USB, Update the UFX firmware and then update to the latest driver and the channel order will be fixed.
cheers.

Re: UFX playback channel order

Thanks, that sounds logical. But the thing is that I am already at the newest drivers/firmware as I told in my first post.
I just hope that this is a driver issue not a corrupted firmware upgrade (seemingly everything went fine).
I first installed the latest driver and after that upgraded firmware. Maybe the order of installations messed something up.
Should i try to downgrade to an earlier driver and upgrade again? I definitely don't feel too comfortable messing with different firmware versions.
EDIT: As I can see from USB driver update thread, the fix was introduced in driver version 1.72. But I have never been on that driver, when I got my UFX I went straight to the latest 1.73 version. Can it be something to do with that?

The issue has been confirmed, thanks for the notification. Please be aware that we have summer holidays in Germany, so fixing this might need one or two weeks...
