Topic: Fireface 400 question how to power via FIREWIRE on BUS mode

Hello, i have recently aquired a second hand fireface400 and it would start using an external power source, i would like to use the firewire connection as a power source but it would not turn on, my motherboard has 1firewire connection on the front and another on the back (gigabyte z77x ud5h), i also tried via a firewire card i purchased, should there be some cable connecting to the fw card for power supply ? thanks

Have you switched the FF's power supply switch to bus power?

Re: Fireface 400 question how to power via FIREWIRE on BUS mode

yes thats pretty obvious sorry for not mentioning, im using card identical to this http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/4 … AA300_.jpg probably even the same card. not powering on bus mode from both the connectors linked to the onboard controller, and not to the card. what could it be?
my firewire card is only connected on the motherboard pci-e. i even tried using it while connected to the floppy drive like power connector still not working.
im using a 6pin to 6pin cable.

Re: Fireface 400 question how to power via FIREWIRE on BUS mode

another issue i wanted to present, im running windows 7, tried all firewire drivers from windows (legacy is the most suggested i figured) anyways when connecting the fireface to a pci-e fw card through the 4pin connection it is recognized by windows, but when connecting with a 6pin cable windows doesnt recognize it? why?

Sounds like the cable is bad.
