Topic: FF400 FW mode asynchron vs isochron
Hello community,
does anyone know which firewire protocol modes are supported by FF400? Is it possible to configure them? Which one to be preferred?

There is nothing to configure except what you see in TotalMix and the Settings dialog.
Matthias,
thank you for replying also on a Sunday. Is the FF400 operating in asynchron or in isochron FW mode?
Thx
Peter
You may be referring to the different transfer modes for USB audio that are somtimes discussed in esoteric Hifi circles. This is of no relevance here at all...

Daniel,
I'm not referring to USB i/f. My question was related to IEEE 1394 firewire i/f. I understood that there are two design intend transport modes possible - asynchron and isochron. I'm wondering which one is supported by my FF400.

Of course RME developers know best, but both the Firewire and USB solutions should be using isochronous transfers, including reserving a minimum bandwidth on the bus. For RME USB interfaces you can even check that bandwidth reservation via Windows' Device Manager. The important thing is: It works!
