Topic: Stop Totalmix FX from Disabling MIDI Control?

Is there a way to stop TMFX from automatically turning off MIDI Control when it does not see the assigned MIDI port available?

I use virtual MIDI ports in my setup but because TMFX auto Launches when I plug in the interface (FFUC) the virtual ports are not active so TMFX turns off MIDI Control.

Kind regards

This was an intentional bugfix a few versions back, that caused a lot of problems otherwise.

Why are the virtual ports not active?

Re: Stop Totalmix FX from Disabling MIDI Control?

Thanks Matthias,

I guess it's not a big deal. Was just asking.

Timur, it's because the computer is a laptop that moves between studio and lecture theatres so the software that creates the virtual pots, LC Xmu is not active when I plug the USB back at the studio. I just have to remember to launch it before plugging in USB to FFUC...

Kind regards

Re: Stop Totalmix FX from Disabling MIDI Control?

Hi Paul.

I'm using a free software called MIDI Patchbay in between TMFX and LcXmu. (Midi patchbay virtual in / out ports selected in TMFX settings)
It's a very light and reliable midi router app that remembers all the midi connections you've set up. Most importantly it seems to scan midi devices when you connect them so I've simply set up Midi patchbay to start automatically with my OS. I can then start TMFX and LcXmu in any order and the connections work as they should. (TMFX won't disable the midi patchbay ports if they're always available) And the app is so light that I just keep it always running in the background. smile

Thanks for the thought bsfreq. That's a clever workaround.

I'm familiar with MIDI Patchbay. At this stage and since I now have the whole installation on a new Mac Pro that doesn't travel at all the issue is under control.

Kind regards
