Topic: RME Babyface with or without DI box?

Hi there.

I´m buying the Babyface this week, so I was wondering if the guitarsignal for recording in Logic Pro 9 is good in the matter of avoiding clipping, hum, buzz? (I will be using guitar amp simulator software, as I have no real amp)

Should I get a DI box and connect it with Babyface, so I also have balanced outputs?

If so, what DI box would you suggest (regarding clean non-coloured highquality sound) ?
A tube DI box, or for example Countryman Type 85?

It has to be a passive DI box, right?

I hope you can help a newbie in this area smile

Re: RME Babyface with or without DI box?

I have found the Instrument input on the BF to work well on a variety of guitars tried. Why not try it first before you shell out extra cash for a DI. If you do decide to go with an external DI I would recommend the Radial line.

And if you do decide on a DI, there's no particular reason it should be passive.  The Babyface provides phantom power if required.
