Topic: Fireface UC - Gain on Line 5/6 & 7/8

Hello everyone,

Fist of all, i love this interface. I bought a Motu ultralite Mk3 but i return this interface in 1 day.

So, today i have a Fireface UC and I just want to ask you one question :
I have a Drum Roland TD15K and a Synth Yamaha MM8. When I plug these two instrument in line 5/6 or 7/8, it's sound low.
I set the Gain Input at -10 for a best volum but i can't approach the 0dB.
Do you have a solution for that?

Thanks you a lot!

PS : Sorry for my poor english, i'm french tongue

Have you already turned the level all the way up on the Synth?

Thanks for the answer.

All the level are at the maximum on each instruments.
I've done a test with my pedal POD X3 Live and i have the same problem. The level is low ... I can't be at 0dB

Re: Fireface UC - Gain on Line 5/6 & 7/8

With the synt (gain : -10dBv) i can be at -11dB with the input 5/6 & 7/8.
With the Mic input and Line 3/4, i can be at 0 dB easily.

Here's the difference between the input 5/6 and 3/4. The 3/4 is higher than the 5/6 with the same input signal (a battery from the synth) :

Re: Fireface UC - Gain on Line 5/6 & 7/8

Logical. As synth playing is usually quite dynamic it might be a good idea to leave the 11 dB as safety headroom, and just normalize after recording. You will not loose sound quality this way.

If you need a higher level because the synth is too low in volume when monitoring then you will have to use different inputs or an additional preamp. -10 dBV has always been used with peak levels up to + 2 dBV, and this is what we had to take into account.
