Topic: Help me picking the RME Audio Interface that suits best what i do

Hello guys,
i'm new at the forum. big fan of RME products.

i have M-Audio 410 Firewire since 2006/2007 approx. and i'm looking for a new Audio Interface. RME!

i'm an electronic music producer, i don't use any instruments like guitars/drums it's all about midi controllers and plugins. what i mean is, i don't need an Audio Interface with a lot of in/outputs.

need some help to buy something that suits what i do. not thinking to spend more than 800€ / 900€

i'm a Windows 7 64bit guy and have some Adam a8x.

hope you guys can help me.

all the best.

Re: Help me picking the RME Audio Interface that suits best what i do

First of all: there are tons of people on this forum that have more knowledge about this than me. But if you don't need a lot of I/O and use mostly softsynths, I'd say a BabyFace would be great. It has all the quality in a smaller and less costly package smile

thanks Rob. i'm considering of getting one Babyface...

any more sugestions?

... i guess not.

maybe it's because it's Sunday, but hopefully someone will reply to this tomorrow, trying to selling me some RME wink

Dont hold your breath Mandioca.

I was in a similar position to you a couple of weeks ago and asked a question regarding the suitability of the RME Babyface to meet my requirement. Like you I had to ask again and got a very short answer.

My requirement was slightly different. I wanted to be able to share my EX Stage monitors with my computer, I wanted good D/A:A/D conversion as I have my cd collection on a NAS which I wanted to play back. I also occasionally want to record saxophone.

Needless to say i bit the bullet and bought the Babyface and haven't been disappointed. It just oozes quality and everything worked straight out the box (i have Mac computer hardware). The only extra I did was to buy a radial DI which gives me better adjustment of the Stage EX i/p and my cd's sound fantastic and I can record my sax playing in garage band and its all wonderful.

I dont think you'll be disappointed with the D/A playback but of course your also paying for the mic/instrument I/O so another product may be better.

Good luck with your search

Malcolm

Hi Malcolm,
thanks for the message. so far, i can only find Babyface suitting what i do and use.

but, still no reply from RME guys... weird.

Re: Help me picking the RME Audio Interface that suits best what i do

Not weird, you probably don't get a response from RME directly for this type of question. When you buy Babyface and have a question, then they'll respond. That's how it's working here:-)

Re: Help me picking the RME Audio Interface that suits best what i do

Hi Masaaki,
...and why not someone from RME to help me to choose the best RME Audio Interface that suits what i do?

anyway, will keep searching for some reviews, etc

There are plenty of reviews here: http://www.rme-audio.de/forum/viewforum.php?id=14
And yes, the BF is a good choice, no need for anything bigger if you don't need the extra features like iPad connectivity of the UCX or so...
