Topic: Limit number of channel on HDSP9652?

Hi,

In the tracking room I have a PC with HDSP9652+HDSP-AES32. They both work great together and I have access to (26+16) 42 in/out channels.

Under the unified ASIO driver, the channels appear as follows:

- Channel 1-24 : ADAT 1-24 (HDSP9652)
- Channel 25-26: Spdif (HDSP9652)
- Channel 27-42: AES (HDSP-AES32)

What I would like to do is to REDUCE the number of channels of the HDSP9652 card at the driver level level so that the ASIO host will see the following:

- Channel 1-16 : ADAT 1-16 (HDSP9652)
- Channel 17-32: AES (HDSP-AES32)

Any possibility to achieve that, by tweaking the hdsp.inf file for instance?

Although my DAW of choice (Sequoia) can deal with as many channels as needed, I would be more than happy to avoid beeing forced to buy ProTools Complete Production Toolkit when I have sessions where PT has to be used. In particular I learnt the hard way that PT Native 32 channels limitation works only for CONSECUTIVE channels, so that you can't decide which channels can be used within the 32 limit! :censored

Hi Thomas,

I remember a visit in Sequenza two years ago (or three ?) with guys from Audio Addict (Christophe B., Philippe L. an so).

For the PT issue, it's not. As far as I remember, you will be able to see every input, but you will not be able to use more than 32 of them. You can choose in the I/O seting window. Buying the CPTK will not solve this issue as it's limited to 32 I/O as well.

Thanks for the heads-up and the phone call. Unfortunately I still cannot assign the 32 input channels (amongst 42) as I wish in the I/O Matrix, contrary to what you tried on your MAC. I am currently looking for help on the PT forum.
