There are new firmware versions available for UFX+, UFX II, UFX III and 802 FS. Due to heavy changes we did not immediately put them on the website, but would aprreciate if interested users try them first within this forum.

So what is this about? In this thread https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?id=39635 we were notified that our new Room EQ does not behave as it should when changing sample rates externally (Autosync) in stand-alone mode. That made us rework the whole stand-alone clocking and DSP control, which then leads to this statement in the Firmware Update Tool's readme:

Stand-alone mode revised. In stand-alone mode with sync to external clock, the device now follows the sample rate of the applied clock source (Word, SPDIF, AES) in and out of the Double and Quad Speed range. For ADAT and MADI In there is a switch from Single to Double Speed if the ADAT input signal contains the matching status indication (all RME units have that at their ADAT outputs), or if the MADI input signal uses the 96k frame. For ADAT and MADI, however, there is no switching to Quad Speed, and no switching back to Single Speed (due to SMUX undefined state).

Of course Room EQ (in fact any FX) now works correctly when synced externally as well - within the limits described above. As ADAT and MADI at 48 kHz can be both 48 kHz and 192 kHz it is impossible to react correctly. To realize a fully functioning 'Follow Clock' feature with ADAT and MADI over all 3 sample rate ranges the easiest solution is to use Word - or AES/SPDIF when available (just as clock reference). Without an additional reference manual steering is required.

Still we think that our fixed FX support plus the new simple single to double switching makes the use of stand-alone mode much easier.

Here are the downloads.

Mac Firmware updates

UFX II, UFX IIIl
https://www.rme-audio.de/downloads/fut_madiface_mac.zip

Freface 802 FS
https://www.rme-audio.de/downloads/fut_usb_mac.zip

UFX+ (USB+TB)
https://www.rme-audio.de/downloads/fut_usb_tb_mac.zip

Windows Firmware Updates

UFX II, UFX III, UFX+ (USB)
https://www.rme-audio.de/downloads/fut_madiface_win.zip

Fireface 802 FS
https://www.rme-audio.de/downloads/fut_usb_win.zip

BTW, TotalMix FX 1.95 is also available as single file download:

https://www.rme-audio.de/downloads/tmfx_win_195.zip

https://www.rme-audio.de/downloads/tmfx_mac_195.zip

Thanks for any feedback!
