The only laptop that has Firewire 800 built in is the Macbook Pro. You can add Firewire 800 via Expresscard/34 for many PC notebooks.

actually Jeff the new ADK 9000x has it onboard as well and its TI chipset...

to the OP you do not need firewire 800 for the fireface 800 unless using 2.
