Topic: Hdsp 9632 + Akg K701

Hello,

I am about to buy AKG K701 headphones, however not sure whether it will be sufficient power coming out from my HDSP card or should I buy a headphones preamp to hear proper basses on AKG K701?

Hello, I'm using HDSP 9632 with AKG K-702 under W7 x64, it works just fine. Clean and neutral sound, perfect tonal balance. Sometimes I need to turn volume down a bit in TotalMix, so that they won't get damaged wink I don't think you need to worry about external pre-amp. Adding another component to the existing setup reduces sound quality IMO... This way it's directly connected to AKG K-702, with no alternation to the output signal...
