Topic: HDSP 9632 and PCI Bridge

Hi there,

I'm building a PC to a small rack and would like to know if there's any limitations when using PCI bridge (the thing that allows you to turn the card in horizontal position) solution with HDSP 9632.

That's about it,

best,

Howdy, had to make a little correction: I was talking about PCI riser card, and not bridge.

Does someone have a knowledge on this?

Re: HDSP 9632 and PCI Bridge

Riser cards are a direct connection just angled to 90 degrees, no proplems AFAIK.

On PCI it mostly works. On PCIe it mostly doesn't work. Adding a few (unexpected) centimeters of length to some sensitive signals makes them fail as their timing is no longer correct.

Re: HDSP 9632 and PCI Bridge

By the way, can you say the dimensions of the card, since I didn't found them anywhere.

I'll post a new thread about the dimensions...
thanks,

Re: HDSP 9632 and PCI Bridge

Just a word of caution: I once tried a dual pci riser card (one pci slot on motherboard to two slots on the riser card); this did not work with the hdsp9632 and jetway j7f2 motherboard. I then tried a pci riser cable which worked just fine. If your riser card has a single slot I would not expect any difficulties as noted by others.
