Topic: Can I have a default Main Output Volume?

hi there - just got the Babyface.  Seems very promising in sound quality but it does seem to be giving slightly more audio stutters than my previous M-Audio interface which is a disappointment.  That said I know I am really overtaxing my iMac with plugins.

ANYWAY!  Onto my question....

Is there a way to have the main output level defaulting to -10dB for example?  At 0dB the headphone level is too loud, and it would be nice to have this starting at -10dB instead of having to dial it down or click 'Recall' every time I boot the computer.

Thanks if you know!

Dan

Re: Can I have a default Main Output Volume?

The Babyface (TotalMix) - remembers the last setting. When you set the headphone level to -10 dB it will be reloaded the next time you boot the iMac.

Re: Can I have a default Main Output Volume?

it doesn't here. in fact it goes back to 0dB when I open Cubase

Re: Can I have a default Main Output Volume?

On a Mac? If yes, it's Cubase that does that...

Re: Can I have a default Main Output Volume?

yes on a mac. ah well, it won't kill me to reach over and turn down the dial smile

Re: Can I have a default Main Output Volume?

You mean when you start the Mac TotalMix shows -10 dB (it does here) and when you start Cubase TotalMix jumps back to 0 dB?

Re: Can I have a default Main Output Volume?

This is a known Cubase issue.

Re: Can I have a default Main Output Volume?

Hi,

OSX 10.6.7
In Cubase 5 / Devices / Device Setup
under VST Audio System /
select "Fireface 800" as exampel here
then click on Control Panel button
under "Options" untick and don't use
"Set Device Attennuation To 0 dB"

this will not reset TotalMix next start of Cubase

Re: Can I have a default Main Output Volume?

thanks S-E Hansson, you're a genius.

This fixes the problem with Cubase 6, OSX, 32bit.

Re: Can I have a default Main Output Volume?

Thanks, I'm blushing now

by the way same trick works in WaveLab 7 as well
under Option / Audio Streaming Settings...
click on Control Panel button

under "Options" untick and don't use
"Set Device Attennuation To 0 dB"

this will not reset TotalMix next start of WaveLab 7
