Topic: Output extension options for UFX

Hi,

I am wanting more analogue outputs from my UFX @ 192. I know there are the following options:

AES: How can I access these 2 outputs via XLR? Is it a stereo XLR out?
ADAT: Hooking up another 192 compatible ADAT unit would give me another 4 outs.

As for Addaing another UFX or Babyface simultaniously? I read someone got the Babyface and UFX working together as one massive unit. Could I do this with any FireFace model to use it's own extra analogue outs?

Please let me know if I have missed anything.

Regards,
WT

AES/EBU is always a stereo pair. The ADI-2 is a working solution.

ADAT: Hooking up another 192 compatible ADAT unit would give me another 4 outs.

One 192 kHz capable ADAT converter provides 2 more analog I/O, but needs SMUX4 support. The ADI-8 QS is the perfect match. This is a high-end converter with exceptional conversion quality, full symmetrical signal path and low latency converters. Probably the RME product without ANY compromises.

As for Addaing another UFX ...

This combination works, but is not officially supported (please read the UFX FAQ).

Re: Output extension options for UFX

I would buy a second UFX and use it stand-alone to convert ADAT I/O and AES I/O, means 6 more analog I/Os @192 kHz. Plus the option to use it as replacement in case the main unit breaks down. Plus...

The ADI-8 QS is - in this scenario - surely no perfect match, although it clearly is a perfect converter.
