Topic: Fireface 400, two condenser mics and one HDD connected to MB Pro

Hello to everybody,

Well, I wonder if I could connect to my MB Pro (only one FireWire port, no expresscard) my Fireface 400 with two condenser mics (they need phantom power, of course) and also a firewire HDD 7200 rpm (http://www.lacie.com/us/products/product.htm?id=10177). I would use the HDD to record. Anybody has tried something like this?

Thanks and best regards.

Typically, it works. But it depends on the behavior of the drive. If you have trouble you can use the drive via USB2.

Ok, thank you very much. I was worried about powering, because I prefer not to use external power for the HDD (only bus powering), and I have to feed to the fireface and two mics also.

Thank you and best regards.

The FF400 would need to be powered with the external PSU, of course, but the drive should not require power, iirc.
