Topic: FW 800 on MAC OS 10.6.3

List members, I had to recently reload OS 10.6.3 on my Intel Macbook pro. Everything had been working fine until the laptop indicated some trouble. It was suggested that reloading the operating system would clear things, but, of course it didn't.
The FF 800 would no longer operate. I used the disc that came with the unit to reload the software. it was labeled CD 10/2005.
The error message indicated the need to upgrade the firmware from the RME site and then it wanted the newest program data. As one might guess, I am now in never-never land.
I stopped when I got to firmware 2.77 and software 2.75.
The FF800 sort of works (I use Cubase to capture the files and place them on an external HD the HD is then attached to my work station and all is normal after copying the files) but the display has turned all blue and unreadable. The Mixer and the Matrix are all blue and black and while the system captures the files as needed, I am unable to adjust anything once the recording has started as it is visually hard to see through blue letter on a black background (or worse)
Any suggestions out there? The computer knows it's needed for 4 track session on the 20th!
Thanks for any suggestions.

List members, it was an expensive fix. It required a new MacBook Pro running 10.6.6. The FF800 now runs fine. I can now do my sessions in confidence, and retire the old laptop! Ah to know what was really going on so as to prevent a similar occurrence in the future.
