Topic: Midi Controller options for Fireface UC

Hi there,

I just recently purchased the RME UC, and overall I'm happy with the sound quality and overall performance.

One annoyance, however, is the lack of MIDI support for the Total Mix software.

I'm currently using the Evolution UC-33 for Cubase SX and had hoped to use it for TotalMix as well. With the exception of the master volume control, it doesn't seem to pick up any other midi sends.

Does anyone know which midi controllers can be used with Total Mix? I've read that it works well with Logic & Mackie Control, but I'm on a PC (Windows XP) and I really don't feel like dishing out 700 Euros for the Mackie board.

Thanks,
Timo

Re: Midi Controller options for Fireface UC

Hello Timo
I bought just for the FireFace UC the Behringer Controller
BTW
"Mackie Control" means a special "transcript". It's not only for using it with a MAC.
So also with the Behringer we need to use this "Mackie Control" (one of the setups).

So if you are interested in a controller have a look for this "Mackie-Protkoll".
Further, you will find the parameters within the manual which can be controlled by such a controller.

All the best

Re: Midi Controller options for Fireface UC

Thank you for the response Beat,

I understand that Mackie Control is a protocol (similar to the Logic protocol), but I didn't realize it was also used/shared by Behringer.

The problem is that there is very little information on the Mackie Control Protocol. I have not found any information on what devices are MC compatible or how to configure it for specific software like TotalMix? When I do a Google search, the results are mostly for Mackie Control hardware devices (i.e. MCU pro or C4 pro).

So my follow-up question: I assume that TotalMix will only work with the Mackie Control Protocol, and will not support devices like the Evolution UC-33e, correct?

Also, I did not find any section in the RME UC manual/user guide specifically for Mackie Control device parameters. Which manual are you referring to?

Thanks,
Timo
