Topic: Babyface problem: no sound at all

I just bought the Babyface for my new laptop (A Sony Vaio, Windows 7 Home Premium), installed the updated drivers, did the flash update. Then – nothing. The computer seems to recognize the Babyface with no problem, it can be set as the default audio device and all. But no sound. Windows media player opens up, opens a file, but then nothing: the file sort of seems to play, but the now indicator doesn't move from the beginning. (With a cd, the now indicator moves and the time display runs, but again, no sound). Adobe Audition behaves similarly. QuickTime moves the now indicator, but again, no sound. TotalMix signal meters show no signal with either of the programs. Sonar X1 says the audio device was disconnected.

Is there something I might have missed or can this be a hardware problem? I just noticed that the left LED bank in the Babyface seems to be noticeably dimmer than the right one.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

jPM

Just to add that
– The OS is 64bit
– I tried the Babyface with another laptop (older IBM/Lenovo with 32bit XP Pro) with similar results

Re: Babyface problem: no sound at all

After all this heated conversation:-O, an update:
Emailed the local support specialist, apparently the problem was with hardware or firmware and as such, a warranty matter. Got another unit that works perfectly.
