Hi.

I've just purchased a new Sony Viao laptop. The idea is to run a live show using my RME Fireface 800 as the audio interface.

The Fireface has been working well for almost 4 years. I upgraded to the latest drivers and firmware, and it still runs smoothly on my desktop computer.

When plugged into the Sony laptop however, the fireface installs fine, and even plays songs using Windows Media Player.

But when I open Cubase 5, the red error LED appears on the fireface unit. Then Cubase constantly switches sample rates.

If I restart, Fireface works fine again until I open Cubase. I've even had the blue screen of death appear on one occasion.

Would a firewire express card solve the problem? I've noticed other people have had trouble with Sony laptops from reading forums (after my purchase of course!)

Any help would be appreciated!
