I have to ask you about help and explanations as I can’t solve the problem about the compatibility of audio interface RME Fireface 400 and OS Windows 7x64HB.
The problem is that during a sound recording with RME Fireface 400 on a laptop Dell Studio 1555 (Intel Core 2 Duo, 3 Gb RAM) sometimes in all used audio redactors the sound is disturbed with a noise and regularly the sound is missing for a short time. I have to add that RME Fireface 400 had a 100 per cent compatibility with OS Windows XPx86 what is not available now.
There is nothing wrong with firewire-controller,  firewire-cable of with a microphone cable what could be a reason of this incompatibility.
Audio driver  RME Fireface 400 for Windows 7x64 is renewed to the actual one:

BIOS Dell Studio 1555, the drivers are renewed and the version of Windows 7x64 HB is also actual.
Unfortunately I have to use RME Fireface 400 only as a digital audio mixer for CD recording and can’t use it in OS Windows 7x64HB.
P.S. I have this problem of compatibility with Fireface 400 in all versions of Windows (7x64..., 7x86..., XPx64) except  OS Windows XPx86.
