Hi,
You need an Insert Cable, 1/4" TRS to Dual 1/4" TS.

Re: Need help to find proper cabling for UFX

Thanks ChrisADK,

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MSLSRM1

I prefer this cable to connect balanced Virus OUTPUT 1(Left & Right TS) to connect RME Fireface UFX balanced line INPUT 1(TRS mono). But how this will work since TRS connector on UFX is a Balance Mono Line In not a Unbalanced Stereo In ?

Re: Need help to find proper cabling for UFX

Regular 1/4" TS unbalanced cables are all I see you needing.  The RME will accept balanced or unbalanced inputs (I believe it handles gain compensation automatically for the -6dB level drop when running unbalanced).  There isn't any benefit to using balanced cables if the sending unit (your keyboards and modules) aren't balanced.

However, balanced cables *should* work in an unbalanced connection (assuming the unbalanced unit's "Shield" connection is far enough up the barrel to actually hit the shield and not the ring conductor on the TRS plug) - and you'll have balanced cables if you ever need them...

I'm not sure where ChrisADK got the impression you'd need an "Insert" type cable - that would generally be for a Headphone type STEREO UNBALANCED TRS output feeding 2 TS Mono inputs (like an iPod Headphone Jack to two mono inputs on your RME).  I didn't see any Stereo TRS type connections on your pics...

Regardless - Monster cables are a waste of cash IMO.  Canare + Neutrik are my preferences - but I DIY all of my cables...

Enjoy! cool

Hi,
yes was just about to post this now that I'm back from lunch. Plain old unbalanced TS cables are all you need.

That's WAY too much money for a 1.5 Meter TS-to-TS cable IMNSHO (Monster = Ripoff) - but that is the type of cable you'll need.

Re: Need help to find proper cabling for UFX

Yeah thats pretty costly because the connectors are 24 karat gold plated, so better on performance...am i right?

You are the person who solve this issue. So thanks again Mr. Randy smile

Hi Randy,
Just from his description of the outputs until of the outputs. The saw in the picture and the manual that it was Just TS mono outs.

I also want to connect Nord Rack 2X stereo output (TS connectors left & right) to RME Fireface UFX at the same time?

For sure the Monster is way over priced and over kill for this. I think ProCo Eg cables woudl be fine unless he is going  long distance with them.

Re: Need help to find proper cabling for UFX

I would have suggested an insert cable based on the description alone as well wink

ProCo also gets my nod of approval (recently bought a ton of ProCo DB25 cables for a great price).  Also, Redco will custom make any type of cable you want for less than that silly $39 Monster 1.5 Meter TS/TS cable - but there should be PLENTY of "off the shelf" 1.5 Meter 1/4" TS/TS cables out there that will match the Monster for a fraction of the price.  I generally use Canare GS6 and Neutrik slim 1/4" Gold TS plugs - less than $10 per cable if you DIY (can't see them being more than $15-$20 ea at retail) and likely better than the $40 Monster Cable.

Don't get sucked into the (expensive) marketing BS that is Monster.  There are forums for those types of people - RME's forum isn't one of them rotfl (science and proven circuit design easily trumps illusive snake oil claims that can't be replicated by the "Professionals" in the field).
