Topic: HOST error at every restart

Hi
I have had this problem very rarely ever since but last few days, every time I restart my PC (windows xp)
or after a complete turn off, I get a HOST-error  red light in the interface.
I have an Audiolink 96 Multiset (hammerfall).
the only thing that seems to pass this problem is to pull out the computer's electricity wire after shutting it down.
sounds familiar to anyone?

Re: HOST error at every restart

Probably FPGA freezes. I had this problems back in mutiface1 days on PCI board with 1.5 revision. I think RME nailed it with rev 1.7 or something (if I remember correctly)...

Better PSU often solves this problem...

Hope it helps,

Re: HOST error at every restart

The card might be on the way out.  If the issue becomes worse, and the card starts dissapearing from the Device Manager, I'd bet that is the case.

Testing the Audiolink/Multiface with an external power supply might help.  As minimalB mentioned, a good internal PSU is always a good idea (make sure the voltage isn't sagging as the system powers on, starving the HDSP card of voltage as it tries to initialize).

cool

MADIface-XT+ARC / 3x HDSP MADI / ADI648
2x SSL Alphalink MADI AX
2x Multiface / 2x Digiface /2x ADI8

Re: HOST error at every restart

thank you guys
I will try that out smile

Re: HOST error at every restart

one more thing - when the error light is on and the card not working,
the RME green mixer and the DSP setting next to it cannot be opened.
I mean I see them but when clicking they won't open.
does it change the situation? maybe driver problem?
appriciate your help
