Topic: FF UC: Midi Control Bug With Notes

Hi,

I just try to control my FF UC with standard midi control.

All is ok with cc (outputs/inputs volumes...), but with controls assigned to notes (dim, mono... buttons), it works sometimes and most of the time, it doesn't, all settings being the sames. I have try every ports i can (direct from port 1 of my mpk25 Akai, thru IAC...), always bug.

I just flash and update yesterday with last drivers availables on RME website (Total Mix 0.942 Mac OSX, driver 1.59, Flash Update 2.54), nothing changes.

I run on MAC osx 10.5 Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L31a))

Thanks for any ideas

Ludo

Re: FF UC: Midi Control Bug With Notes

Hi !

Thanks a lot for your response !

sad It keeps not working...

Here some information about messages.

Note: I have use for demo an IAC Bus called "IAC Fireface UC" (I don't thnk it's a problem of port, I have tested all, but using an internal bus is easier for me to be sure to send 127 velocity on and eliminate any hardware problem).

Here is the Total Mix settings:
Options:
Enable Midi Control, Submix linked to midi control: All Checked
Settings:
Midi input: "Gestionnaire IAC IAC Fireface UC"
Midi Output: none
Disable Midi in background not checked and enable mackie protocol not checked.

In my DAW, I send a note on message to IAC Bus "MPK >> Fireface UC" with max velocity (with note Number 93, it's a A6 in Total Mix and A5 in my Daw, anyway, I have tested with -12 and +12 transposition). I check with MIDI monitor:

12:47:45.945    From Gestionnaire IAC IAC Fireface UC    Note On    1    A5    127
12:47:46.070    From Gestionnaire IAC IAC Fireface UC    Note Off    1    A5    64

The connection is OK (Total Mix receave my cc controls from the Daw), but not the notes >> Not working.

Note: Like said in my first post, I have also tested directly with the USB controller input (MPK25) and what's strange with your explaination is that sometime, it has worked and bug. But not in a way I could expect a velocity problem (I push the note, Ok, I repush the note, Not ok and so on) but working during one hour and stop working with no explaination (cc controllers keeping working).

Have you another idea ? do you need more information ?

Enable Mackie protocol. These notes are part of it.

Re: FF UC: Midi Control Bug With Notes

Thanks !

It's Ok (I was sure to have test all possibles combinations of settings including "enable Mackie Protocol"...) smile

So I have come back to my first idea wich was to convert cc numbers to note message from my controller with MidiPipe
and before closing the topic, I just want to share this informations:

1 - It doesn't seem to be a question of velocity, at least for the control room buttons. It always works at any velocity in my case.
2 - The trigger is not on note ON Messages but note OFF
That's a reason why I couldn't generate the good translation, generating a note on and note off message at the same time with MidiPipe
>> it only works with just a Note OFF message, it doesn't work with just a Note On Message and, that's more subtil, it doesn't work with a note on and note off message at the same time.

All is Ok for me now, it wasn't a bug... I have other questions but this topic is not the place.

Thanks again !
