Topic: Help needed please

I have never used an interface before and recently purchased the babyface for home recording music. I am don't have a clue how to use it yet, but just want to record fairly basic stuff. I have been trying to hook up a microphone to the babyface and record into garageband, but can't get any sound coming into garageband. I am sure it is pretty simple, but I just can't figure it out. I have set garageband to recognise that the babyface is the input source, but just can't get the settings right on babyface.
Any advice would be welcomed,
Many Thanks.

Re: Help needed please

The Babyface comes with a user manual, please read the quickstart section (pg 7-9) and take a look at page 45 for help with input channel settings. Let us know if you have any specific questions.

Re: Help needed please

Are you sure you're not holding the microphone upside down?

Re: Help needed please

Singing in Mic shows a signal in TotalMix (Channel AN1 or 2)?
No: check the correct XLR input on the breakout cable.
Is it a condenser Mic? Activate the 48V power in TotalMix (yellow LED on one channel of the Babyface is on).

If this works enhance the analog gain for the Mic signal with the round knob - not with the channel fader (!) - for the Mic in TotalMix (or on the Babyface).
