Topic: Product Question: RayDAT for laptop?

Hello RME,
Do you have any plans for a RayDAT-type interface for a laptop?  Anyway of getting more than 24 inputs (3 x ADAT, like Digiface) into a laptop, via ExpressCard?  Except for MADIface.

A Digiface with 4xADAT In and 4xADAT out?

Would a laptop be able to handle the additional I/O?  What would such a laptop require in CPU and memory?

Thanks,
Ira

Re: Product Question: RayDAT for laptop?

Hi Ira,
There are already solutions available to do this with current HDSP-e cards.

Would seem more cost effective than investing in all new gear.
Realistically is you need more than that many I/O you might as well look the Madiface also as a current working solution.
It would be nice to see some all or mostly Digital I/O box like that though.

Thanks Chris

Re: Product Question: RayDAT for laptop?

Hi Chris,
Thanks very much for this.  I missed it when it was posted earlier, I guess.

Netstor has a Turbobox Mini, it appears.  1 PCIe slot.  I could be very happy with a RayDAT in that.

I'm a little unclear as to the photos that Matthias posted, though.  It doesn't appear that he's using an RME ExpressCard interface in the laptop.  What is necessary to connect the laptop to the Turbobox (mini)?

Oh, I see on the Netstor website that the Turbobox comes with an ExpressCard and cable.

GREAT!
