Topic: FF800 recording question

Hy guys,
I have a simple one for you. I am new to the FF800 and am away from home for a couple of days and a friend asked me if my FF can do this: can we patch 8 line outs from a mackie mixer into the line inputs and record them with the front 4 xlr iputs simultaneously? I am asking this question because I remember that on the FF settings I can select for the 1, 7 and 8 channel if I want it to be front, back or both inputs.
So, can i record in that way 12 tracks into logic simultaneously?
Thanks!!

Re: FF800 recording question

No, sorry, the FF800 only has 10 channels of A/D conversion. In a pinch, you can record ch 7 front + 7 rear together on one track (same for ch 8).

Thank you Jeff,
Much appreciated smile

Re: FF800 recording question

I use a Mackie mic pre which has 8 A/Ds and a dual ADAT output. If you use both ADAT ports, that gives you an additional 8 channels in the RME at 96/24. There are a bunch of 8 channel A/Ds with ADAT outputs on the market, some with just line inputs or D25 connectors.
