Topic: FFUC gain question (a bit urgent)

Hi all,

I have the output of a UA Twinfinity 710 preamp plugged into input 1 of my Fireface UC. I'm using an XLR-XLR cable and I'm therefore using the XLR contacts of the front combo jack. The gain is set to zero in TotalMix, and the sound I get at the input is pretty much what I was expecting.

I'd like to know if this is a good solution or whether I should only be using the line-level jack input (using an XLR-to-1/4"-jack cable). In other words, does the "XLR part" of the front combo jack go through different circuitry than the "jack part" of the same jack?

I need to know rather quickly if I need another cable. Thanks a lot for your help.

Re: FFUC gain question (a bit urgent)

It's fine either way, but the rear TRS input is the simplest signal path. The front input is going through a preamp chip, but at zero gain it will not affect the audio.
