Topic: MIDI software loopback?

Is it possible to program routing MIDI?
I mean the software loopback from OUT to IN.
Need to be able to on the same computer where connected babyface install the application, the receiving commands from the IPad for control via MIDi

Re: MIDI software loopback?

Possibly by using "MIDI OX"?

http://www.midiox.com/

It is a very flexible application and likely overkill, but it's free and should do what you need.  I seem to have issues getting MIDI-OX to open a USB MIDI device when that device is already opened by a VSTi - but it worked fine with my RME Multiface's MIDI ports...

Re: MIDI software loopback?

Thanks for the link.
But I would like to get comments from the RME support as far as this is technically possible to BabyFace

The Babyface can not and will not do this in the future.

Re: MIDI software loopback?

Hi Arty,
There no audio interfaces have have any sort of MIDI loop back functions that I'M aware of.
There are already many software solutions for doing this.

If you are trying control you software or the Total MIx FX from the IPAD via WiFi then this program will help you.

If you are wanting to send MIDI from one software program to another then this program will work.

Re: MIDI software loopback?

A huge thank you for the links.

Though I'm a little confused.
To send the command to the MIDI input (with the same PC where connected BabyFace) should I connect physically input and output on the card with the wire?
Or I should not do this?
Actually my question was exactly in this is it possible to programmatically record MIDI commands
so that would BabyFace accepted them as if they were on the physical input card.

Re: MIDI software loopback?

Hi,
LoopBE is a virtual MIDI port driver  that allows for this type of MIDI Loopback. Although I am still not 100% sure what you are trying to do. smile

You mentioned early about using your IPad to control the TotalMix FX. If  so then this would be done over Wifi or with this software. http://www.saitarasoftware.com/Site/Home.html
If this is what you are doing the you will need IP MIDI which is a network(WiFi) virtual MIDI port driver.

Re: MIDI software loopback?

I think you might be able to use Bomes Midi translator do record the MIDI inputs and assign them to a keyboard command if I remember correctly. It is not freeware but very powerful for routing and mapping midi messages.
