Topic: Total(ly lost)mix!

I just bought a new Babyface. Love it. It's gorgeously looking, and sounds amazing.

One thing is driving me to insanity though: TotalMix!!

I do not get this program! I am new to digital recording and trying to find my way and TotalMix is not being very encouraging. Sure I've found out the basics, record through XLR line in or the TRS guitar input but I still haven't even found out how to apply the internal effects, or how to get the best possible low-latency mix(using the DAW's plug-ins in real time). I have no idea what the assign button is really doing in the control room. Well basically I still have no idea what I'm doing within the program.

And yes I have read the manual but it didn't do much for me at all. It's like it was written for people who know their stuff already. But what about us new comers? Are we just left hanging? Where are the tutorials?

Please help, RME!

It's all in the manual. Internal effects can be applied with the Loopback feature. The assign button moves output channels from the left to the Control Room Section with it's advanced monitoring features and give them function names: Main Out, Phones 1, 2 ...

We have some tutorials here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL … ature=plcp

Re: Total(ly lost)mix!

really Knut, and what's in the manual?
An index? that would have been helpful.
Specific instructions on routing and the functions of the buttons on the front of the UFX?
That would have been helpful also.
Sorry Knut I have had my UFX for a week now and I am able to track and record but I find the Total mix software incredibly frustrating, half my time is spent configuring outputs for phones and monitors. The routing is still a complete mystery,
I would suggest getting some proper educational material together to make your wonderful hardware more user friendly.
As a manufacturer of this magnificent product RME have a responsibility to provide PROPER documentary support

Re: Total(ly lost)mix!

Totalmix FX is a very efficient, while possibly a bit difficult program to master in one go, so it's a good reason to read up on the available literature. If reading the manual is too daunting, there are several videos on Youtube that explain and give you tutorials about Totalmix and Totalmix FX. A simple browse through this forum would've given you that answer.. DeadHorse
