Topic: Surround speaker configuration problem
Hi,
I'm experiencing the following annoying problem when using my hdsp MADI card for surround playback with VLC player and WM player under Windows 7 64 Bit:
The speaker setup of course must be configured as 5.1 from the windows device manager, and apart from the fact that I can't use any other channel assignments than the default first six outputs, this all works fine. (I'm aware that this 'default channel assignment' is a known issue with the latest drivers since abandoning the WDM-interleaved option, just thought I'd let you know that It would be a welcome option in the future to be able to remap surround audio to different outputs.) Now here is the problem:
I clock my system with an external clock at 48kHz and I'm able to playback surround media just fine. But once I've played back some stereo audio at a different samplerate, the speaker setup in the device manager switches back to the default stereo assignment. So now every time I need to play some surround audio after that, I have to enter the speaker configuration again. Is there a way to keep the speaker configuration locked to surround, no matter what samplerate or audio format is played back?
Thanks for your time,
Wessel
