Topic: RME UFX + Octamic II + ADI 8 DS

Hi,

I got the RME UFX and the Octamic II slaved via optical toslink (one cable) and Word Clock cable.

I need another 8 channels for my setup in order to convert to DA (when including a summing mixer, Dangerous Music 2-bus lt or NEVE 8816 is what I am evaluating). Hence I am planning to get the ADI 8 DS with the summing mixer.

My question is:

Can I just connect the ADI 8 DS to the RME UFX's second ADAT in/out and forget about the Word Clock? The reason for asking is that when I connected the Octamic II I did not get it synced to the UFX when using two toslink cables, but had to use the Word Clock cable together with one toslink cable in order to sync.

Any help/clarification is much appreciated

No problem, just set the ADI-8 to sync to its digital input signal.

The Octamic II is AD only right? First I thought it was AD/DA but unfortunately it is not...
