I have lately upgraded my home setup from a Digi 003r to the RME UFX and, through a serendipitous set of circumstances, an really nice used Pendulum MDP-1 dual mic preamp. I'm using Protools 10 and composing music for small documentary films and recording mostly acoustic instruments and voices. I have been overdue for an upgrade but this has been massive and the quality differences quite obvious.

Here's my stupid newbie question: (being more of a composer/musician than a technical guy)...I have the Pendulum routed through channels 2 and 3 at the rear of the UFX...what should my input level (on the UFX channels 2&3) be set as? Low gain or +4 dBu? Also I'm still learning TotalMix... are there additional settings I should be using or aware of for an outboard preamp? This is beautiful equipment and I live in fear of not using it properly.  Thanks in advance.
