Topic: ADI-648 MKII - PSU Inquiry (Physical size vs mounting standoffs)
Hello,
I just picked up a used ADI-648 MKII to add to my ever-growing RME rig. It seems to work perfectly, but when I received it, I observed some rattling from the inside.
After removing the rack rails and top cover, I noticed the PSU appears to be a non-factory part. It is a little smaller than the standoffs in the 648, so it literally only mounts to one standoff. The one mount was loose - with a quick tightening I'm confident it will be fine for my "fixed installation" scenario (not worried about mechanichal stress), but was curious if this was an RME approved substitution, or if this unit might have been repaired my a non-authorized repair center? I have some pics, but they are at home...
Numerous other screws were also loose - I found that odd, but the unit does seem to function well...
Thoughts? Seems odd that someone would spend $2K (new) on such a unit, and then have it repaired by a non-authorized repair center to save a few bucks.
Thanks!
