Topic: Overload Light Front panel FF400

On the front panel of the FF400 2 leds display input signal levels.  What's happening audio-wise when the red one lights up?  If it's causing clipping, what's wrong with that?  Can I use this as a way of "limiting" input levels?

When the red CLIP light is on, you are at or near the limit for the AD converter. Turn down the gain. Clipping the AD sounds bad.
