Topic: TouchOSC rotary knobs - solution on the way

For those who are interested in using TouchOSC but are concerned about the "jumpy" behavior of the rotary knobs, a solution appears near.  On the Hexler.net forums several of us asked for a safer version of the rotary knobs, and Hexler wrote a few days ago:

"Sorry for the late reply. I’ll add an option to prevent this so that it’s still possible to get the “jumpy” behavior as well as I myself and some users actually make use of this to be able to “cut” from full to off and vice versa. I’ll see if I can squeeze this into the next update which is ready to go right now, so it won’t be long (depending on Apple review times of course)."

The iTunes app store does not have the most recent update for TouchOSC yet, but it is good to know it is on the way.

Now all we need are level meters...

Re: TouchOSC rotary knobs - solution on the way

Got the update notice on my ipad yesterday and installed it.  I can confirm the rotary knobs now work without the dangerous jumping behavior

About the level meters:

I talked to the guys at hexler and thats what they said:

Quote:
"You can achieve this by placing additional Fader controls behind a
Fader and displacing them a bit to "stick out" from behind that Fader.
That's the way the LiveControl templates do this, have a look:

and Me:
"So the unit has to send the meters via midi commands to to the programmed
fader, right?

Quote Hexler:
"Yes, it's possible using either MIDI and OSC (or both).
The LiveControl layout uses OSC while the Traktor layout
does the same using MIDI."

and finally

Quote:
"And again a video demonstrating the same but with
Native Instruments Traktor, notice the two faders in
the upper part of the layout showing the output levels
of both channels:

Check this video at about 0:20 to see what I mean:

RME, please update your wonderful TouchOSC template so we can see the level meters in each block (input/playback/Outs).

Thank you very much.

Re: TouchOSC rotary knobs - solution on the way

Unfortunately it seems there is no combined RMS/Peak meter display possible, as one is used to from most level meters (also TotalMix). That means one is forced to use a peak level meter only when implementing this 'workaround'. A dedicated level meter element still seems to be missing.
