Topic: Have FF800 looking to buy a newer Macbook Pro Computer

Hello Everyone,

When I bought my late model 2008 Macbook Pro  I did the right thing back then to get the one with silver keys, which had the Texas Instruments firewire.     It works nicely with my FF800.

I'm finding now that my laptop is often too slow - such as when I use Propellerhead Reason on it.

I'm thinking I could either:

1. Buy a newer, faster macbook pro
or
2. Install a SSD drive in place of the HDD to see if this helps

If I were to upgrade to a new Macbook Pro, would the firewire chipset still be an issue for FF800 compatability or have the newer FF800 drivers taken care of those issues?   I understand Mac doesn't use the TI chipsets anymore, but uses Agere or others.     I'm just wondering if this problem has gone away.

Thanks in advance,
MusicTee

The latest Macbook Pros don't suffer from the previous Revision 6 chipset problem. No problems.

Oh okay thank you very much, that's good news.      Just to be sure though, by newest macs would you be meaning one that is newer than ____???
