Topic: Fireface 800 not recognised after Mac OS X Lion update

Hello,

After updating to Lion today, my Fireface 800 no longer is being recognised by my mac. It has been working for months now on both my MacPro and MacBookPro....until today.

The 'Fireface Mixer' and 'Fireface Settings' apps no longer open.

I've downloaded and reinstalled the newest driver (fireface_x86.zip), reset the PRAM on both my machines, reset the Fireface hardware by unplugging all cables, tried different FW cables, both 800 and 400, still nothing, just a red light on the Fireface.

I also tried deleting user/library/preferences for fireface apps.

Please help me resolve this issue. Much appreciated!!!

TKWJR.

Re: Fireface 800 not recognised after Mac OS X Lion update

Hmm, either the FF800 coincidentally has a hardware problem, or both OS upgrades went bad. Does the System Profiler see any FireWire device at all when the FF800 is connected? In general I always recommend a clean install of the new OS rather than in-place upgrade due to the potential problems.

Re: Fireface 800 not recognised after Mac OS X Lion update

Update/correction:

I updated my MacPro to Lion about 1 week ago and continued to use the FF800 w/the original drivers from OS 10.6.8. Fireface worked fine all week.

Then I performed last night using my MacBookPro with 10.6.8 OS. FF800 worked perfect.

Today tried to use the FF800 with the MacPro (while I was updating the MacBooPro to Lion), and the FF did not function...

So that is when I downloaded the new driver and tried checking everything else for errors.

I hope this doesn't confuse the thread too much.

Thank you for your help, it is much appreciated!!!

MacPro System profiler says:

FireWire Bus
        Built-in Hub

MacBookPro system profiler reports:

Warning: unable to list FireWire devices.

Re: Fireface 800 not recognised after Mac OS X Lion update

.....I don't think either of my machines is recognising the FF800 in the system profiler.

Re: Fireface 800 not recognised after Mac OS X Lion update

Going to back up and reinstall a clean Mac OS Lion on my MBP, and then I'll get back to you...

Thanks for your help.

Re: Fireface 800 not recognised after Mac OS X Lion update

Just installed Lion onto a clean partition of my MacBookPro. RME FF800 is still not recognised by the laptop, just a red light. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Re: Fireface 800 not recognised after Mac OS X Lion update

....I've managed to get the FF800 apps to open, but none of the buttons respond. The Phantom Power lights don't activate when triggered in the Fireface Settings app. But it does recognise mixer settings!! Red light has never gone off.

Re: Fireface 800 not recognised after Mac OS X Lion update

I will take it into service... please inform me of service centers for RME in Barcelona, Spain. My machine is still under warranty. Thanks again.

Re: Fireface 800 not recognised after Mac OS X Lion update

Hello

This morning the machine has changed behavior. Using my MBP (previous Snow Leopard system, updated to Lion yesterday), the FF800 will connect to the laptop, all apps will work for a few minutes, then it will disconnect abruptly.

Maybe this means something to you?

Thank you

Re: Fireface 800 not recognised after Mac OS X Lion update

Does "disconnect" involve the HOST LED turning on?

Re: Fireface 800 not recognised after Mac OS X Lion update

I want to add:

This problem is most likely a hardware problem of the FF800, and has nothing to do with Mac OS Lion. I will update when I get the unit back from service.

....trying to save you (the reader) the confusion.

Perhaps a moderator can change the title of the post to ''Malfunctioning FF800''

I brought the FF800 to Microfusa and they said they can't help me (because I didn't buy the machine there). Can you please direct me to RME service in Barcelona?

Re: Fireface 800 not recognised after Mac OS X Lion update

I urgently need to repair this FF800. I am losing time and money every hour that this machine does not work. I have no backup soundcard at the moment.

Please direct me toward a RME technician in Barcelona/Spain.

Thank you in advance.

There is no RME service in Barcelona, sorry. Please contact the retailer or distributor in the country of purchase.
