Topic: Latency - ADAT vs. MADI

hello

I'm using the 'Raydat' with a SSL alphalink for years now and it's just a fantastic setup. Stability, possibillities, TotalMix, DigiCheck - all just fantastic.

Now, I'm wondering how much better the roundtrip-latency would be with an HDSPe MADI. Will I see an improvement AT ALL?
I'm talking strictly about the MADI connection from the card to the interface - ADAT out to ADAT in vs. MADI out to MADI in.

thanks a lot,
bernd

ADAT out to ADAT in vs. MADI out to MADI in

Digital vs. digital. Same.

Re: Latency - ADAT vs. MADI

Thanks Knut, so no extra buffering in the ADAT  going on, or something like this.

So, for a roundtrip with the I/O plug-in (for inserting analog hardware into Logic's mixer) the 82 samples compensation needed for this (Logic->Totalmix->Converter->Converter->Totalmix->Logic)  will not change with the MADI card?

I'm just asking, because with the HSPe'S AES interface the delay is 2 samples. With no analog converter roundtrip, of course.

Thanks.

With the same converter it's the same.
