Topic: Babyface: normal noise when imput gain is set to max (60db)?

I am not shure if the hiss I am having from my babyface its normal or not. If I turn up the imput gain from 30db up I start to hear a hiss. At a gain of 60db (max) and nothing connected, then the Adobe Audition level meter marks arround -54 db. When the imput gain is at 30db the level marks arround -80db. Could someone confirm thats O.K. and normal? Or should I expect less noise?
I am just wondering if I have a noise problem that comes from my PC or not. Thanks.
Gregory

i have this too  - almost exactly the same but using ableton  - i just find this a lot of hiss when raising the gain   - i dont get the same amount of hiss when using my liquid saffire 56 or when i had a motu ultra lite  -

the guy at tech support says it's normal but i just think the hiss i get is a lot

i also had a lot of crackling and had to send the rme off for repair - some components on the mic inputs were replaced

Please use DIGICheck, Bit Stat and Noise, to state meaningful numbers.
