Topic: Spec difference between ADI-8 DS and ADI-8 QS

I would like to know why the ADI-8 DS presents a spec for

SNR AD: 117 dB(A)
SNR DA: 112 dB(A) unmuted

While the ADI-8 QS presents a spec for

Dynamic Range AD: 117 dBA
Dynamic Range DA: 120 dBA unmuted

Aren't these different specifications and why aren't both given for both units?

Thanks!

PC1 = HDSPe PCIe: DF-ADI-8 DS / HDSPe PCIe: MF2
MBP = HDSPe Expresscard: MF1

Re: Spec difference between ADI-8 DS and ADI-8 QS

"The concepts of signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range are closely related. Dynamic range measures the ratio between the strongest un-distorted signal on a channel and the minimum discernable signal, which for most purposes is the noise level. SNR measures the ratio between an arbitrary signal level (not necessarily the most powerful signal possible) and noise."

Re: Spec difference between ADI-8 DS and ADI-8 QS

Usually SNR and DR give the same readings, especially with RME devices, so we don't care much about using one or the other in advertisement.
