Topic: Can't install the UCX USB driver on Windows 7 64 bit

Windows identifies the UCX as "Unknown Device" under the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" device group.
I'm trying to manually update the driver. I'm using the latest USB drivers available on the web site (from 5/3/2012).
I'm pointing Windows to fireface_usb.inf and I'm getting the following error:

------------------
The folder you specified doesnt contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems.
------------------

Are there any other drivers?

Please Help!!!

thanks!

Windows identifies the UCX as Audio/Multimedia Device. You seem to be trying to install the drivers for the wrong device.

Re: Can't install the UCX USB driver on Windows 7 64 bit

Can you please elaborate?
Windows identifies the UCX as an "Unknown Device". Is there any way to bypass this?

thanks.

Does this unknown device disappear when you disconnect the UCX?
Can you try the Firewire connection?

Re: Can't install the UCX USB driver on Windows 7 64 bit

yes. The device disappears immediately when I disconnect the UCX.
I can try the FireWire connection, but can you please clarify the following:
1) Does the FireWire provides sufficient power to the UCX so it does not require the power adapter?
2) With FireWire, how do I perform firmware updates?

thanks!

Re: Can't install the UCX USB driver on Windows 7 64 bit

An onboard or PCI FW connection will provide bus power. Updates will require USB for the time being.

FW installation is just a test for now. You are either installing incorrectly (driver folder manually unzipped into new folder?) or there is something wrong with this USB connection. Is this USB 3?

Re: Can't install the UCX USB driver on Windows 7 64 bit

I manually unzipped the driver into a new folder.
I tried both USB 3 and 2. both did not work.

I should be able to try a FW installation tomorrow.
For the meanwhile please let me know if you have additional suggestions.

thanks!

Please list the exact procedure you follow. Also try a different USB cable. Or another PC.
