Topic: Are the two available remotes passive, or active?

Hi there,
Just wondering if the remotes (both simple and advanced) passive, i.e. switches and LEDs, or do they have active electronics for the numerous functions?
The reason I ask is that the form factor isn't quite suitable for what I am thinking of doing and would like to get one made up, if it were a simple switching box etc.

The standard remote does not include electronics, the advanced one does (a small programmed microcontroler). So if you want the advanced remote in a different form factor you will need to buy one for disassembling.
