Topic: Babyface instru input for vintage mic pre

I'm thinking of getting an old tube mic pre for a different flavour. The output is a single TR/TRS jack. Having been used to XLR's when it comes to mics, the only option I would have with the Babyface is to plug the tube pre output into the instr input on the side of the Babyface yes? Can the instrument input be switched between a standard line in/Hi Z instr input? Sorry if these are noob questions but I'm still learning about all this stuff.

Re: Babyface instru input for vintage mic pre

Use a cable with TRS on one end and XLR on the other. Connect the pre to the XLR inputs on the breakout cable.

The Instrument input is designed for use with instruments (direct gtr or bass), not preamps.
